about

Ann Quin, British novelist, was particularly enamored by Fred Ward's poems, as I was. She responds often to the poems during the recording. This is from a reel to reel tape I've just converted to digital October 2018. I made the recording soon after Fred's book came out in 1966 at my place on the Hertford Ranch in Placitas.

As far as I know Fred Ward's POEMS is the first book of poetry by an Afro-American published in the state of New Mexico - by duende press 1966. The book is dedicated to Neil Nelson.

Love to all! ... more
