Andrea Serrano, an Albuquerque native who has been writing and performing her poems in the metro area for the last several years, is known for the strength of her presentations. Her work has been published in numerous publications, including the Mas Tequila Review, Malpais Review and Ban That! The BSP Anthology of Xican@Literature. She has performed at Nuyorican Cafe in NewYork City, the Galeria de la Raza in San Francisco and at the recent Librotraficante Caravan reading at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque. Serrano is the host of the monthly poetry venue "Speak Poet: Voz, Palabra y Sonido (Voice, Word & Sound) in downtown Albuquerque. She is also a member of the band Cultura Fuerte.

John Macker, one of the mainstays of the Santa Fe poetry scene in recent years, has just finished a new book, Las Montanas de Santa Fe (with woodcuts by well known artist Leon Loughridge) and will read from his new texts on June 16. He is the author of various broadsides and books of poetry, including Underground Sky, Burroughs in Santo Domingo, For the Few, The First Gangster and Woman of the Disturbed Earth. In the mid-1990s, he edited the award-winning journal Harp, which featured poetry and interviews with such poets as Robert Bly, Ed Dorn, Charles Bukowski, Gregory Corso, Diane di Prima, Tony Scibella and others. Over the years, he has read with poets Ed Dorn, Linda Hogan, S.A. Griffin,, Frank Rios, Gregory Corso, and Andy Clausen. He has also issued a CD, Black/Wing, and periodically edits The Desert Shovel Review.
